#5 Race in America

Its been nine years since the Twin towers were attacked by the two high jacked planes witch killed thousands of innocent Americans, But America still hasnt fully recoverd from it. Nine years ago the small muslim group of the taliban marked history and destroyed the reputation of the muslim people. Nine years ago we went to war in Afganastan to take out the taliban and nine years later we are still there. Nine years later a muslim community wants to build a mosque near the site where the towers once stood. Should they be allowed to build it? Does the first amandement apply to them? The freedom of religion. Some say no and others yes. What about the burning of the muslim sacred quran? Is the pastor from Florida doing that because of religion or race?

Race. That four letter word causes so many problems all over the world. Its caused problems for African Americans,Mexicans and other hispanics,Whites,Asians and right now the Muslim community. After 9-11 everybody racial profiles muslims or anybody that resembles them. I know because I used to racial profile people like that because I was uneducated about the situation. Now that I know more about what happen and whats going on I dont racial profile. The only reason I did is because I listened to fools who knew nothing and I knew nothing so I thought they were right ,but when I learned the truth my eyes opened to a whole new world and whats happening inside it. If people were educated properly race probably would not excist or as much.

#4Culture Essay

Religion its in everyone and everything. For example the great United States Of America was founded because of religious beliefs. Christianity formed this country. The pledge says "One nation under God" our money says "In God we trust" another example is the ten amendments relate to the ten commandments. Alot of how we run stuff in this country is based on Christian beliefs. Im a christian-Baptist and alot of what goes on in politics is about God and other things in that area , and I can reconize that stuff cause its familiar to me. The first amendment in the Bill of Rights says freedom of religion , but does it really mean that? Did the founding fathers put that there so Christians were safe and could worship how they wanted without getting in trouble? Did they know years later muslims, satanists, and other religions would use that right? Alot of Christians who are high up in politics try twisting that right so other religions cant practice what they want. After 9-11 muslims have been on everybody radar and now they cant build the mosk near the site of the towers. I personaly think they should be allowed to buil it there because one group of people ruined the reputation of the muslim community. so why should others be punished? Alot of people dont think thats a good idea just because of there religion not because of what happen on 9-11. I think different they should be allowed to build it where ever they want. All over the world Everything has to do with religion people just dont notice them.

#2Book Report

picture of my brother Richard Baca

The book I read is called One man's Wilderness by Sam Keith. The story is based on the jounals Richard Proenneke had written from living in the Alasken wilderness for sixteen months. Richard survived off the land and learned many lessons of the difficulties of living in the wild. There is alot of lessons I learned fromthis book and it opened my eyes to alot of things. I really enjoyed this book for two reasons, one because it was really good and second because it was the first chapter book I have ever read in my life. After rading this I im looking forward to reading more books.

Richard Proenneke went into the Alaskan wilderness 100 miles from civilazation with only limited gear only to build a cabin and other materials from the woods. He was taken to his location by his friend Babe who flew him in on one of his bush planes he uses to travel and make deliveries. Babe visits him every couple weeks to check up on him and drop off supplies and mail from family. Richard spends alot of time watching the animals in the area through his spotting scope and takes many pictures. He enjoys the wild and everything it offers. He wonders why people can mistreat the world when its so beautiful and people dont appreciate what the dont notice.

I learned from this book that I should be aware of all natures wonders and just stop and enjoy the world outstanding views. The way hummanity has shaped the earth and all its natural reasources is so crazy when you realize what we have taken and destroyed. More people should take camping trips and take in some of that good mountian air and  stand at a mountian top and see the beauty this world offers, then maby people will realize what they have.
